Getting to UConn

Note from the site organizing committee: Northeastern Connecticut is known for its quiet countryside; coming into the UConn campus from the north, you’d probably see “the girls”–UConn’s dairy cows–on Horsebarn Hill. We’re happy to answer questions about travel to ENUG 2013. Please email janice.christopher[at]lib.uconn.edu, and we’ll do our best–we’re librarians, after all!

By Car:

From I-84, use exit 68 and take Route 195 South

From I-95, take I-395 North, then Route 32 North to Route 195 North

By Plane: Fly into Hartford-Springfield’s Bradley International Airport (http://www.bradleyairport.com/home)

Cab fare from Bradley Airport to the hotel in Mansfield is about $90 one way ($2.50 per mile flat rate with Ace Taxi (http://ace-taxi-service.com/), reservations accepted)

If you rent a car, the drive takes about 50-55 minutes in normal traffic.

By Train: Amtrak (http://www.amtrak.com/home) stops at Hartford’s Union Station

By Bus: Peter Pan Bus (http://peterpanbus.com/) stops on campus in front of the UConn Co-op (but then it’s a long walk across campus to the local bus stop)

NYC to Storrs through Hartford

Boston to Storrs through Providence, RI

By Ferry: The Long Island Ferry (https://www.longislandferry.com/default.aspx) docks in New London, CT, about 50 minutes south of Storrs

Bus from Hotel to UConn/UConn to Hotel:The Storrs-Willimantic bus (http://www.wrtd.net/storrs-willimantic_bus.html) stops on campus (but it’s a longish walk uphill to the library, and the buses do not always run on time)

Runs on Route 195 — stops are “Big Y” (near the conference hotel) and “Shippee Hall” (campus)

Fares are posted on the WRTD website
